Stack provided about 75 Christmas gift bags with various presents from the Dallas Mavericks and Adidas for the children at his hometown "House of Hope Freewill Baptist Church" in Kinston!
Mavs Hope Change Sparks Stackhouse
There is hope that Jason Terry's return to the lineup might act as a trigger to get Stack more comfortable as the true sixth man. The first game back in that role was like getting reunited with a long, lost friend. "It didn't necessarily translate to the box score, but I felt a little more aggressive," Stack said. "I feel more of an onus now with Jet back in the lineup. Now I don't have to come in and be a facilitator. I can just do what I normally do, scoring, being aggressive, and that will turn into getting assists because I haven't been able to find a good balance with that yet." Stack the Vegetarian
One thing's for sure. Jerry Stackhouse didn't eat too much turkey at the team's Thanksgiving feast in Houston. He didn't eat any. Meat is off his menu. "I told [coach] Avery [Johnson]," Stackhouse said, "you need to prepare something for a vegetarian." The 13-year veteran hasn't gone full-fledged vegan, but he's close. His recent and rather radical change in diet excludes all meat -- except fish -- and dairy products.
Stack looks for liftoff
Stackhouse spent a good portion of the summer working on an upgraded strength and conditioning program designed to help him stay stronger late into the season and into the playoffs. However, Stackhouse, 33, said the workload might initially be taking an early toll on his jumper. Entering Tuesday's game, he was averaging just 9.7 points and shooting 38 percent. He was 0-for-6 against the Raptors. "I'm hoping that it'll just one day flush out and I'll feel good, but I still feel kind of heavy-legged on my shots right now," Stackhouse said. "It feels good in warm-ups, but after I run up and down a few times, I'm a little tired."
Stack Knows How to Dish
“If you can score, it makes you a better passer because you’re going to create attention from other teams that over the years expected you to be in attack mode,” said Stackhouse, who came into the game averaging 4.2 assists. “I take advantage of that and make sure I go to guys that are better shooters on our team. Stack's Latest Blog Entry
"We've been struggling a little bit with our defensive transition, but I think we've really been playing pretty good and we've been able to win games. It's good to be on a team where you can struggle in an area and you're still able to win games. We've been working on it in practice and we actually have gotten better in this last span of games. The numbers have gotten better for us, so hopefully, by the break, we'll be back where we were in the last few weeks." Read the rest of Stack's NBA.com Blog...
