Stack Ties Season High 03.15.10 - 07:31pm

by Joseph Merkel

Stack is back, and he's brought some instant offense with him.

Jerry Stackhouse came off the bench on Sunday night, and in 24 minutes, scored a team-high 20 points in a 98-94 win over the Indiana Pacers.

The outburst matched No. 24's season-high thus far, and was a critical contribution for a team exhausted by an impressive win on Friday over the previously red-hot Utah Jazz.

Stack told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that he knew the team needed big minutes and big plays from him:

“Coming off a big win like we had against Utah, we ran our starters a little long, so it was important for a game like this. You’re obviously going to have a little bit of a letdown. I thought we did a good job of preserving the win.”

Jerry's 24 minutes not only eclipsed the 29,000-minute mark for his career, but also saw him connect on four of his six three-pointers.

Charles F. Gardner of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel named Jerry his Player of the Game for his performance:

“Forward Jerry Stackhouse scored 20 points on 7-of-13 shooting, including 4 of 6 from three-point range, to give the Bucks a needed lift off the bench.”

DOWNTOWN HEROICS

Stack matched his season-high of four three-pointers, and raised his average to 40 percent from beyond the arc on the year.

Alex Boeder of Brew Hoop said it was a performance worth noting:

“After a quiet, three-point night against Utah, Stack came back and masked his team’s bad offensive start with a trio of three pointers in the first half that gave the Bucks an eight-point lead at halftime. His outside shooting was really a story of the game—without him making 4-6 from deep the Bucks would have an epically disappointing loss on their hands...But Jerry was on from outside, and he went inside went necessary: Early in the fourth quarter, he contorted through the lane and hung in the air for a gorgeous layup in traffic.”

Jeremy of Bucksketball believes that when Stack is on the floor, there is also a change in the tempo.

“One thing you’ll notice when Stack is on the court is how quick the Bucks are passing the ball and how little dribbling is going on…Stack isn’t bogging anything down and he’s making good reads more often than not.”
