A Veteran Leads 02.25.10 - 02:20am

by Joseph Merkel

Jerry Stackhouse has been a member of the Milwaukee Bucks for less than a month, but he's already pointing his new team in the right direction.

Stack is drawing praise from head coach Scott Skiles regarding his leadership; Skiles appreciates that No. 24 is all about winning, and not shy about sharing his thoughts.

“He’s a pro. He’s been around a long time, he’s not afraid to say to someone in a time out, ‘pass the ball you’re double teamed.' That may seem like a simple thing but there is an awful lot of players in the league tip-toeing around each other and that usually is a hallmark of losing teams. Usually the winning teams aren’t afraid to get after each other a little bit out there.”

STINGING THE HORNETS

The Bucks improved to 12-5 since signing Stack after a 115-95 of over the Charlotte Hornets. Jerry connected on four of seven (2-3 3PT, 3-3 FT) and finished with 13 points, four assists and four rebounds. Said Bucksketball:

“Against the Hornets, Stack went ahead and did some work on the floor to make sure no one was forgetting about what he does outside of the huddle. Stack...scored13 points (4-7 FG 2-3 3FG 3-3 FT) and more importantly, he was taking and making open shots that made up for some of his sillier turnovers.”

NEXT UP

Jerry and the boys travel to Indiana Thursday night to take on the Pacers. Stack took care of the Pacers with a 14-point performance earlier in the month, leading the Bucks to a 93-81 win. No. 24 will look for a repeat.
